Project Details

The project consisted of the removal and replacement of (5) five underground tanks, clean-up of the area, and transport to a legal disposal facility. In addition to the underground tanks, one gas pump and tank was also removed and shipped to the appropriate disposal facility. A secondary fuel oil tank, located in the mechanical room of the Visitor Center, was removed. Following equipment removals, the surrounding areas was excavated to expose existing fuel oil piping and fire alarm system conduit. The existing piping and conduit was then removed and backfilled. Prior to backfilling, excavated areas and stockpiled soil was assessed for potential contamination. Underground tanks were replaced with above-ground tanks, on newly placed reinforced concrete slabs. Piping for new equipment was routed underground and then connected to the existing boiler and furnace. All excavated areas were backfilled and compacted in 12” lifts.

This task order was a result of MFS Construction, LLC being awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) Alt/Repair Construction Services Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of real property to support the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
