Project Details

The project consisted of fabricating and installing each opening’s wooden frame assemblies. The frame assemblies included the frame, head, jamb, casing, and sill. Installed fabricated opening covers (IE: shutters, doors, windows) to the fabricated jamb/frame assemblies with government furnished custom historic reproduction hardware. Treated a 16-inch overhead wood beam in the Commandant’s Gallery. Installed fasteners and hinges, mounted bolts, screws, hook catches, and holds installed in wood material and masonry, with an approved high strength epoxy. An epoxy adhesive was used to mount fasteners and fittings in drilled holes, then smoothed and painted for an appearance matching the surrounding surface. Primer and paint were applied to all jambs and opening cover wood and hardware (i.e.: frames, shutters, doors, windows, and associated bronze hardware) to match existing, as well as to all wood elements (i.e.: jams, frames, thresholds, casing trim, sash, muntin, sills, doors, shutters, etc.) and color was period replica. Repainting of mortar joints at brick stairways and walkway leading to the Commandant’s Gallery.

This task order was a result of MFS Construction being awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) Alt/Repair Construction Services Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of real property to support the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
