Project Details

MFS began by creating a staging plan to set up the site with designated locations for materials and equipment. A dumpster was located adjacent to the building for convenient disposal of roof shingles and miscellaneous construction debris. MFS also implemented site protection measures, including installations of tarps and barriers, to secure the work area and protect nearby pedestrian traffic. MFS removed the existing shingles and underlayment to expose the existing wood roof deck. Any issues with the existing deck were documented and provided to the Contracting Officer to confirm replacement is acceptable. Any necessary repairs were then made to the roof decking.

Once the roof decking was repaired and inspected, MFS installed the water-resistant underlayment barrier, in conformance with the shingle manufacturer’s recommendations. A stainless-steel drip edge was then applied across all edges of the roof. EcoStar Majestic Slate shingles were installed on the roof.

Following roof replacement, wood trim, exposed rafters, the underside of the wood decking, and all other exposed areas were primed and painted in a color selected by the NPS. All flashing trim, gutters, and downspouts were replaced. The site was cleared of debris and excess material prior to close out.
