MFS Construction, LLC (MFS) was contracted by the National Park Service (NPS) to provide all the labor, equipment, material, necessary to replace Millbrook Church, Montague Grange, and Historic Todd Cabin Roofs in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Project Details

MFS Construction, LLC (MFS) provided the following construction services in support the project:

Millbrook Church: MFS removed the exiting gutters, downspouts, roofing underlayment, and approx. 2,166 square feet of slate roof surface covering along with associated fasteners, flashing, copper ridge cap. The new synthetic underlayment was installed on all areas along with an ice / water shield at eaves, rake edges, overhangs, and valleys Decking was replaced at all deteriorated areas with alike materials. Selective replacement of eave and rake fascia/soffit was performed. This project consisted of a full replacement of a alike natural slate material 12x24 tile. All associated fasteners, ridge cap and gutters were replaced with a new copper anodized material to match with the historical appearance. All materials and workmanship with new materials complied with DOI & NPS historic preservation standards. The Millbrook church is in Hardwick township inside the Millbrook village historical site. Locals and tourists typically are able to see an entire town with all historical homes, local shops and the Millbrook churches.

Montague Grange: MFS removed and replaced approximately 5,286 square feet of asphalt shingles roof surfaces. Selective replacement of roofing sheathing/deck was accomplished with in-kind (same species and dimension lumber) materials based on condition. The new synthetic underlayment was installed on all areas along with an ice / water shield at eaves, rake edges, overhangs, and valleys. All deteriorated or damaged sections of eave and rake fascia/soffit were also replaced as needed. New gutters and downspouts were replaced with a NPS bright white selected color to match the existing building facade. All materials and workmanship with new materials complied with DOI & NPS historic preservation standards. The Montague grange is a local base for the NPS personnel located in Montague NJ near the border of Pennsylvania.

Historic Todd Cabin: MFS removed the exiting gutters, downspouts, roofing underlayment, and (3) three layers of approximately 1,800 square feet of asphalt shingles roof and associated fasteners and flashing. MFS replaced these elements with alike decking at deteriorated sections, structural repair of damaged rafters at the rear of the building. New asphalt shingles were installed in a NPS Park Green selected color. The new synthetic underlayment was installed on all areas along with an ice / water shield at eaves, rake edges, overhangs, and valleys. New gutters and downspouts were replaced with a NPS brown selected color to match the existing building facade. All materials and workmanship with new materials complied with DOI & NPS historic preservation standards. The historic Todd cabin was located in a remote section in Walpack Township, NJ deep in a campground alongside Long Pine Pond.
