Project Details

The project consisted of repairing the Quarter’s roofing and gutters, and the interior improvements.

The task began with an assessment of the existing metal roof, looking for areas prone to leaks. After the evaluation leaks were found and then were sealed with waterproof material, ensuring the safety of the space. The existing multi-piece metal roof ridge was replaced with a continuous ridge on all ridges and hips. The new metal ridge cap and all fasteners were installed in the existing roof material and color. MFS removed the existing metal gutter system and downspout connectors. It was replaced and installed a new one on an existing PVC downspout maintaining the same shape and color. The repairs to the roof and the gutters were made resistant to tropical weather conditions.

MFS replaced the entire ceiling in the interior bedroom with moisture-resistant, drywall and installed fiberglass batt insulation (R-19) to improve climate control and the building’s energy efficiency. The skimming method was used to plaster the walls of the building. Skimming involved plastering with a thin layer and applying it to an existing plastered wall to smooth the surface. It was painted to match the existing sheen and color.

This task order was a result of MFS Construction, LLC being awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) Alt/Repair Construction Services Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of real property to support the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
