Field Engineer - CM (0-3 Years' Experience)

Overview

Seeking a Field Engineer for our CM department/construction department. The firm is looking for a driven, career-minded individual to fill an Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager position within our Construction department. This position reports to the Project Executive.


This position does not require relocation. However, it requires rotational travel for a minimum of 3 weeks at a time, with one weekend home (typical).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in performing the day to day duties to facilitate and manage the pre-construction and construction activities
  • Preparing and tracking project submittals, assisting in maintaining the performance of each subcontractor, verifying compliance with the plans and specifications, and attending job site meetings and other duties necessary for the successful completion of the projects
  • Work with project team members to develop schedule plan and progress strategy for each project. Promote good lines of communication.
  • Support the project with quality control analysis, coordinate with inspectors, and ensure the construction work meets standards specified by designers.
  • Assist with scope and contract preparation, obtaining various permits, preparing and reviewing project schedules, estimating and verifying change order requests, responding to RFIs and responding to subcontractor and consultants project related questions,
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility
  • Comply with safety procedures/policies and addresses and/or elevates non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors. Promotes, exhibits and encourage a safety conscious attitude among all employees.
  • Documents all time and material operations and reconciles with the client on a daily basis
  • Take site walks to communicate with and learn from Foreman and Superintendents about current operations.
  • Ensure that projects are expeditiously and profitably constructed.
  • Establish excellent working and professional relationships with the clients and their representatives and/or field inspectors.
  • Assist the buyout process, writes the requisition, and communicates all required information to the Project Team.
  • Produce complete purchase orders after the conditions are approved by the Project Manager.
  • Know the key operational details of the subcontract and holds the subcontractors accountable to their agreement. Attends the subcontractor coordination meetings to provide updates to schedules, drawings, and specifications.
  • Actively participate in sales activities to promote the company brand and services.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field
  • 0-3 years of Field Engineer experience
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must
  • Ability and desire to learn and progress within the organization
  • Organized and self-motivated to accomplish goals
  • Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced challenging environment
  • Proficient at soliciting quotations.
  • Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of P6 and/or MS Projects
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Basic knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems and site surveying
  • Must be willing to travel within NJ and adjoining states.
  • Valid driver’s license and means of transportation
  • Background check

Preferences

  • Spanish is a plus, but is not required
