Driller Helper

Overview

Innovative geotechnical drilling firm is looking for a driven, career-minded individual to fill the Driller Helper position. This position reports to the Lead Driller.

Responsibilities

The primary role of the Driller Helper is to assist the geotechnical driller in subsurface investigations, provide support with drilling operations, stay on top of equipment maintenance, and safety protocols. This role involves assisting with tasks like drilling, sampling, well installation, and general field work, often working outdoors in various weather conditions.

A successful candidate will be a team player who is self-motivated and willing to jump in and assist where needed.

As this is a field position, you will be expected to perform work year-round, in varying weather conditions that may be wet, cold or hot. You may be required to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drilling operations, including soil and rock drilling, core sampling, etc.
  • Support the Driller in loading/unloading drilling equipment, preparing tools and supplies, and operating pumps & generators.
  • Assist with maintenance and cleaning of drill rigs, trucks, work areas, etc.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and industry standards/regulations.
  • Assist with measuring boring locations, communicating job site conditions, and expediting supplies.
  • Other duties may include driving to job sites, and complete tasks as assigned.

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Understand and adhere to safety protocols and procedures
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must
  • Ability and desire to learn and progress within the organization
  • Organized and self-motivated to accomplish goals
  • Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced challenging environment
  • Must be willing to travel within NJ and all adjoining states
  • Adapt to changing schedules and work hours

Preferences

  • Overall professional construction experience: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Field Management experience: 3 Years (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Continually required to stand, walk, and sit
  • Continually required to talk and/or hear
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate office and field equipment
  • Continually exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Continually required to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Continually required to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials
