Construction Inspector (2 Years' Experience)

Overview

MFS is seeking a Construction Inspector to work in our innovative, highly respected, and dynamic consulting firm in the engineering and construction industry. This position is based in our San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This position is not remote. Must be willing to travel within Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and other locations.

The Construction Inspector will be responsible for inspections of the contractor’s work as it relates to the approved construction drawings, safe work plans, and other relevant documents. Inspections will be required on all aspects of the project.

A successful candidate will be a team player who is self-motivated and willing to jump in and assist where needed.

Off shift work and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily field inspections.
  • Develop daily field inspection reports.
  • Perform all work as instructed by the on-site construction manager.
  • Able to read construction documents including approved drawings, specifications and all other documents related to the project.
  • Able to communicate effectively with on-site construction managers and provide detailed and accurate reporting of daily inspection task.
  • Inspect work performed by general contractor and subcontractors to verify that work is performed in accordance with contract plans and specifications, approved shop drawings and approved work plans.
  • Prepare written and electronic daily field reports and maintain quality assurance logs detailing work performed, any deviation from plans, unforeseen conditions, and any non-conforming work.
  • Monitor correction of non-conforming work by the general contractor.
  • Coordinate with any required special testing agencies.

  • Continually required to talk or hear
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate office and field equipment
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally required to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry items less than 15 pounds

Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of construction experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and Outlook)
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) with ability to deal well with clients and employees at all levels
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Valid driver’s license and means of transportation
  • Certificate of Good Standing

Preferences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English is highly desired
